Gearing up for the V8 supercars in June

A bumper to bumper entertainment program was today revealed with Australian rock royalty added to the Darwin Triple Crown V8 Supercars program.

The Darwin Triple Crown V8 Supercars will be held at Hidden Valley Raceway on 17 – 19 June 2016, featuring three days of motorsports, on and off track entertainment and two nights of concerts.

Chief Minister Adam Giles was at Hidden Valley today to announce the action packed program.

“Multi award winning rockers The Living End will return to Darwin for the first time since 2014 to light up the centre stage of the V8 Supercars on Saturday night,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said.

“The Living End are regarded as one of Australia’s best live acts and will be sure to impress the crowds.

“The Living End will be ready to reclaim their crown as the kings of rock n’ roll with the inclusion of the Darwin Triple Crown to their national tour.”
The Living End will be supported by punk rockers Bad//Dreems.

“Last year the V8s attracted 44 000 local and interstate visitors over the three days of entertainment and we’re keen to see the reputation of this world-class event grow.

“The Darwin Triple Crown is more than just a car race and that’s why we’ve invested more than $13 million in infrastructure upgrades at Hidden Valley as part of Budget 2015, cementing the Territory’s reputation as a haven for motorsports and entertainment.

“It’s great that stunt rider and action sports athlete, Matt Mingay and the Hot Wheels Stuntz Inc team will be back again, bigger and better than ever, with an all new show featuring his brand new Chevy Camaro, Ford Mustang, motorbike demonstration and jumping truck,” Mr Giles said.

Joining the Hot Wheels Stuntz Inc Team on track will be the nation’s leading and most experienced freestyle motocross team Showtime FMX who will make their debut at Hidden Valley Raceway.

The Showtime FMX crew have fully choreographed performances include Australia’s top freestyle Moto X performers jumping dirt bikes 80 feet ramp to ramp and reaching heights of over 45 feet.
The fan favourite Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) aerial display will take place on Saturday & Sunday.

Back again in 2016 for the kids will be the Disney Fun Zone. Children 13 years and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

The Living End and Bad//Dreems will join the likes of Australian musical superstar John Farnham, who will close out a bumper V8 Supercars entertainment program with VOICE IN THE VALLEY on Sunday night. Farnham will be supported by X Factor’s Taylor Henderson.

Mr Giles said the Country Liberals Government was working hard to develop a confident culture that celebrated the Territory’s outdoor lifestyle with world class events, festivals, sports and arts.
“The world class events we have in the Territory are attracting visitors from intrastate, interstate and overseas, which means more money spent at local businesses and more job opportunities for Territorians,” he said.

“It’s all part of the Country Liberals’ plan to drive the development of Northern Australia and build a $2.2 billion visitor economy by 2020.”
